This image could be used in a fun Language Arts lesson! This lesson could be appropriate for all ages, but would have to be adapted for each age group.

Preschool- Show the children the picture of the elephant. Ask them if they know what the animal is. Then ask them to draw a picture of their very own elephant. Once the children have each drawn their pictures, then have them explain to you what the elephant is thinking. Write down their responses on the back of their picture. This is a great way to get the children thinking and a great way to allow them to show off their creativity!


Third graders- Show them the picture of the elephant. Then ask them to make a pre-writing web of the different things that the elephant might be thinking of. Once they have made the web of possibilites, have them begin writing a story using some of their ideas created in their web. This lesson is a good way for students to learn about pre-writing and writing skills, while being able to show off their creativty!
